The Saint Benedict festivities in Pinhote open with the raising of the flag in June and with novenas from 1 to 9 July, with the rosary recited every evening. The highlight day brings together a festive dawn celebration, a sung Mass with a sermon by the choral group from Marinhas, the arrival of the brass bands, and the majestic procession in honour of Saint Benedict, organised by the festivities committee.
Pinhote is a hamlet of Marinhas, in the municipality of Esposende, close to the Minho coastline. The parish has Saint Michael the Archangel as its patron, whose church houses a Romanesque mural and two funerary sarcophagi. It is now part of the civil parish union of Esposende, Marinhas e Gandra, set between farmland and the sea.
