about the place
Fataunços is just over a kilometre from Vouzela, to the west, in the lands of Lafões. The parish already appears as an organised community in the Inquiries of 1258, and the first Christian settlement was called São Miguel da Folgosa. The parish church, enlarged in the eighteenth century, houses a high altar of gilded woodwork bearing the royal coat of arms, as it belonged to the Royal Patronage.
