biography
Markeliñe is a theatre company founded in 1985 in Amorebieta-Etxano, in the Basque Country, Spain, recognised for its singular style of visual and gestural theatre. Over more than three decades of activity, it has dedicated itself to original creations and the development of its own scenic codes, building a highly distinctive artistic language.
Its shows are aimed at diverse audiences, from children to adults, and address themes such as political and war victims and the role of women in rural life. The company has been honoured with several awards, among them the Best Show Award at Umore Azoka and at the XIV Festival Internacional Parque de las Marionetas, in Zaragoza, for creations such as 'Andante' and 'Artilusio'.
