The União das Freguesias de Vila Nova de Cerveira e Lovelhe covers the municipal seat of Vila Nova de Cerveira and the parish of Lovelhe, on the banks of the river Minho. It has an area of 6.9 km² and 1,780 inhabitants (2021 census). Here stand the town castle, rebuilt following the royal charter granted by King D. Dinis in 1321, the Escultura do Cervo, the Aquamuseu do Rio Minho, and the Forte e Atalaia de Lovelhe (Fort and Watchtower of Lovelhe).
