The Grandiosas Festas em Honra de S. Miguel e N. Sra. da Natividade are celebrated in Escamarão, in the parish of Souselo, municipality of Cinfães, and are one of the region's principal cultural and religious celebrations. They bring together two invocations dear to the community — S. Miguel and Nossa Senhora da Natividade — on days marked by processions, music and fellowship.
As is the tradition in the local romarias, the festival combines the religious with the cultural, featuring processions in honour of the patron saints, concerts and fireworks. The musical programme is provided by an orchestra and a Banda Marcial, who accompany the most solemn moments and enliven the streets throughout the days of festivities.
Souselo is known for celebrations that interweave religious devotion with community life, within a calendar of festivities that also includes the Marchas Sanjoaninas and the Música com História festival. It is within this context of living traditions, maintained from generation to generation, that these festivities continue to bring together local residents and those who return to their homeland.

Nestled on the hillsides that slope down to the Douro, in the municipality of Cinfães, Souselo is a land of ancient roots dating back to the ninth century, where time has left overlapping layers of memory. It is in the village of Escamarão, with its church anchoring the surrounding community, that one feels this attachment to the people and the terraced land. From the Miradouro do Vale do Bestança to the Foz do Bestança, the landscape becomes almost sacred, amid waterways, resilient greenery and the murmur of the stream. Traditions are lived in community, in the music that enlivens the squares and in the honest flavours of a cuisine that tastes of place. A land that imposes itself not by its size, but by its soul — and it is in Escamarão that the festival brings neighbours together and calls back those who have left.
