Festivities in Honour of the Martyr Saint Sebastian

The Festivities in Honour of the Martyr Saint Sebastian, in Cheira e Chainho (Penacova), took place over two weekends: 23, 24 and 25 October and 30 and 31 October and 1 November 2026. On the evenings there were performances by ABA, AVR, DJ Mugs and TV5, with DJ Cedric, Oskar DJ, DJ Braulio and DJ Maçãs and DJ Nuka in the early hours. The bagpipers and the mini band Sons do Mondego led the morning street parades. On Sunday the 25th, there was a Mass followed by a procession at 15:00. On the 31st there was a singles versus married couples match and a Halloween night with prizes for the best costumes, and on 1 November the traditional sardine feast, at 17:00.

Cheira and Chainho are two hamlets in the parish of Penacova, the seat of the municipality of the same name, in the district of Coimbra. The parish covers 31.75 km² and has 2,824 inhabitants (2021 census), comprising 34 hamlets, farmsteads and estates, among them Chã, Gondelim, Riba de Baixo, Riba de Cima, Travasso and Vila Nova.
