The Festivities in honour of Our Lady of Alegria take place from 13 to 16 August 2026 in Alegrete, in the municipality of Portalegre. They open on Thursday with the street parade of the Banda da Sociedade Recreativa e Musical Alegretense, a cycling tour and a free trail. There are bull releases at the football ground on Thursday and Friday, with sevillanas by Lídia Rolim during the interval. On Saturday the 15th, the Hymn of Our Lady of Alegria is played at 7:00 at the bandstand, the Banda da Sociedade Filarmónica Alverquense arrives, the quilt collection takes place in Alegrete and Vale de Cavalos, and at 16:00 there is a solemn mass followed by a procession. On Sunday there is a game of malha, target shooting, a workshop for children and a bullfight à vara larga. Every evening there is a kermesse and dances: Rodrigo Amaro, Vânia Mariza, Contramão, Sónia Quim Costa, Os Tira Sortes, RP Som, Rumo ao Sul and Mário Coutinho, with DJs into the early hours. A meal service is available every day from 19:00.
