biography
The Banda Municipal de Câmara de Lobos, also known as the Banda Filarmónica de Referência, was founded on 18 November 1872 in Câmara de Lobos, on the island of Madeira. With more than 150 years of history, it is one of the oldest and most iconic philharmonic ensembles in the region, celebrated for its musical contribution and the cultural identity it represents.
Throughout its journey, the band has associated its name with musicians and projects linked to the musical life of Câmara de Lobos, such as the group Vozes do Mar. It recently celebrated its 153rd anniversary, reaffirming a tradition and an influence that spans generations.
