biography
The Banda Filarmónica de Portel, also known as the Banda Filarmónica Municipal Portelense, was founded in 1935 and is based in Portel, in the Alentejo region. As a philharmonic band, it is dedicated to performing the traditional repertoire of Portuguese philharmonic bands, taking part in festivals, village fairs and ceremonies throughout the region.
Among its initiatives is the Música na Cerca festival, held in Portel.
