biography
The Banda de Ribeiradio is the Banda Marcial Ribeiradiense, from Ribeiradio, in the municipality of Oliveira de Frades (district of Viseu), founded in 1890 by Ricardo Ferreira and Alexandre Ferreira Lopes. It has around 40 members and a music school with approximately 35 students, and since 2002 its headquarters have been located in the former Ribeiradio railway station.
It received the Municipality's Gold Medal in 2002 and recorded its first CD, 'Lafonias', presented in May 2013. It accompanies processions at local festivals in the region, such as that of S. Martinho de Mouquim (Albergaria-a-Velha).
