biography
Banda de Música de Carregosa is a philharmonic orchestra founded on 4 February 1889, based in Carregosa, in the municipality of Oliveira de Azeméis. Its first conductor was Francisco Vaz da Silva and, throughout its history, several conductors have led the ensemble, with Valter Palma having been at the helm since November 2015.
The band inaugurated its current headquarters on 7 October 1995 and has released two albums, in 2002 and 2009. It comprises around 65 members, mostly young people, who perform music to raise the name of the parish of Carregosa.
